Stewards Leadership Program
The Stewards Leadership Program invites young adults, ages 14-18, to develop critical leadership skills and gain fundamental job readiness experience through supporting Camp.
Uniquely, Stewards bridge the gap between camper and camp staff. This provides an opportunity for Stewards to serve as exemplary peer role models to campers and directly support their growth and development.
Camp is a place where all can find a new identity, push themselves out of their comfort zone, and have meaningful growth experiences. Join us!
Why be a Steward?
Participation in the Stewards Program will undoubtedly elevate your job readiness, performance, and leadership skills. In addition, you can expect to:
Grow your ability to communicate and build trusting relationships
Learn how to work on a team with many moving parts
Establish professional job and character references
Gain a behind-the-scenes experience of camp programming and program management
Critically evaluate activities for safety and how to reduce and mitigate risk
Expand your self-esteem, patience, and problem solving skill set
Have a greater understanding and respect for nature and agriculture
Have fun with curious and energetic campers!
About the Program
As a Steward, you will support Camp programming through two primary objectives: (1) assisting with group and camper management and (2) preparing and facilitating camp activities.
Summer Camp at both sites is an immersive, authentic learning experience for youth ages 3-14. It’s an opportunity to play and get dirty outdoors, be carefree and curious, and explore our living laboratories!
The essential role of a Steward requires dependability, maturity, playfulness, and a strong interest in working with youth, agriculture and the natural world.
