Johnson Nature Center holds a Michigan DNR Threatened and Endangered Species Permit #TR322 for the purpose of care and education for wild animals.
Great Horned Owl
Our owl is a female which was received by a rehabber on October 17, 2012. The rehabber was Wildside Rehabilitation Center in Michigan. The intake exam found an injury to the wing making her non-releasable. The owl currently has a special diet consisting of mice.
Peregrine Falcon
The falcon was branded by USGS in 2013 in Ontario, Canada. It was found injured on the southwest side of the state in April 2022. The falcon was rehabbed by a federally licensed wildlife rehabber from Riverside Wildlife Rescue. The intake exam findings showed injury to the left wing and shoulder making it non-releasable. The falcon’s diet consists of mice and chicken.
