Staff Spotlight: Meet Lauren

Lauren Denby

Hello! I’m Lauren and I love working outdoors, and getting to engage children with the wonders of nature. I grew up here in Oakland County, and love getting to show off the environment that shaped me.

I received my bachelors degree at Western Michigan University in anthropology and environmental sustainability. While there, I had the opportunity to do field work tracking multiple different species of turtles, and started my path in outdoor education at the Kalamazoo Nature Center. My other passions are in climate change work, community resiliency, and DEI work.

I am so thankful to have this opportunity to work at the Johnson Nature Center! I love fostering our children’s passion for the outdoors, and following their curiosity.
