It all begins with an idea.
This fall, we launched our brand new early childhood learning program TreeSchool Workshop. TreeSchool workshop functioned as a nature-based learning experience for children as well as an opportunity for parents/caregivers to learn themselves about the benefits of outdoor learning, methods for adopting it, ways to overcome barriers, and most importantly how to learn (through play!) with your child in nature. In this series, we focused on three topics: risky play, exploring art and senses outdoors, and nature through the lens of scientists & engineers. Throughout the series, children had opportunities to:
Climb new and uneven surfaces
Learn how to build a fire
Taste and create their own tea blends
Use various tools to construct and engineer their own creations.
Design and build a working beaver dam.
Challenge themselves, make new friends, build inquiry, make connections to the real world, care for their natural environment and SO much more.
