Bird Banding - Great Backyard Bird Count

Participate in a one-of-a-kind community science opportunity at Johnson Nature Center with our partner and sponsor, Oakland Audubon Society. You’ll experience bird banding with a federally-licensed bird bander, Allen Chartier, and the opportunity to join guided hikes with local bird enthusiasts from Oakland Audubon Society and Johnson Nature Center. Other activities include a family birding scavenger hunt, sketching birds using tutorials, and additional hands-on fun and learning focused on our feathered friends! Dress for the outdoor weather. Binoculars and field guides will be available to use. This program is free with thanks to sponsorship by Oakland Audubon Society with donations suggested to support bird conservation and education.
