After, the owls went on a hike to the docks on the pond where they got to spot fish and water plants. They then practiced shelter building for the remainder of the day. The bees went on a hike down the trails and got to play games like hide and seek, and night at the museum till pick-up!

Day two of Forest Friends began with the bees feeding Autumn, while the owls started on their hike. The owls started by making fairy homes and looking for signs of fairies in the environment. Then they spent some time on the dock where they spotted a turtle! The bees hike took them across the bridges where they looked for frogs and played lots of games! After lunch, The owls went to the sugarbush to play with logs and forts and look for various insects. The owls spent the remainder of the day in the mud kitchen making different concoctions!

Day 3:

Today we started our Wildlife Wonders camp for week 5. After spending some time in our outdoor classroom playing and getting to know one another, campers got into their groups, the bees and the owls. The owls started their day by reading about owls and then going to feed the nature center owl. The owl group learned about bug habitats and bug hotels. Then the campers put their new knowledge to work and began to construct a bug hotel for the insects that live here at the nature center. The owls spent some time in the woods drawing their surroundings, what they see and hear, before having time for some open exploration. After their lunch, the bees played in the sugarbush chasing each other around, and looking at different bugs with magnifying glasses. The owls spent some more time exploring, then started on their nature lesson. The group got to dissect clean owl pellets and discover all the cool things they contain like fur and bones from mice and birds!

Day 4:

Today the bee group got to feed the owl, and the owls fed Autumn the deer! After feeding the animals they headed into their first activities. The owls created their own experiment after seeing a cluster of ants and decided to put out a cracker, marshmallow, and cucumber slice to see which would attract the most. They then headed to the log cabin where they used various instruments and materials to make music. The bees headed to the sugarbush for time to play and learned about maps! After lunch, the bees spent more time in the sugarbush drawing their surroundings and one another. The owls painted and found flowers to use to make an art piece before pick-up!
