Forest Friends: Week 4
July 31 - August 4
Pine Trees and Paint Brushes + Early Adventures
Day 1:
We are back to day 1! The day started with the two groups completing their animal feeding, the owls with Autumn, the nature center deer, and the bees with the owl. The owls went on a little exploration of the nature center to find the falcon and the owl after. While the owls wandered around, the bees went on a hike to explore and then build fairy homes. After lunch, the bees continued their work on the fairy homes, and the owls read a fairy book before starting their own homes. Then all of our campers were ready for pick-up!
Day 2:
Campers started day two with lots of drawing in their journals! The bees took their turn feeding Autumn, and the owls fed the owl! The owls then headed to the mud kitchen to make lots of different drinks and meals as chefs. The owls went on a hike down the boardwalks to observe lots of water/waterside critters and creatures. After lunch, the owls headed to the sugarbush to read about art and build their own natural art then paint a portrait of Van Gogh. The bees continued their hike before visiting the owl, then went to visit their fairy houses again before heading home!
Day 3:
Today we started Forest Friends by playing with lots of clay! We decorated trees, made fake marshmallows at the ends of sticks, and created pinch pots! All the campers then got to meet and feed Autumn, the nature center deer, buckthorn leaves and her food. Each group, the owls and the bees, then read a book about hiking through the woods before heading on their own. The owls went to the log cabin to play with the old water pump, and work together to build a tiny stick home. The bees went to the sugarbush to find insects, and played in the fort before everyone had lunch. After lunch, both groups got to run around some more before heading home.
Day 4:
Our second day of early adventures started with shelter building! The owls and the bees all went to the sugarbush to build different homes and forts! The bees also practiced fire building before helping to build the real thing! After lunch, the bees stayed in the sugar bush and got to roast marshmallows! The owls went to the mud kitchen where they got to play with one of the elementary groups, The Super Falcon Explorers! The fun-filled day then came to an end!
Day 5:
The owl and bees started their final day of camp with a hike. The owls headed to the log cabin where they built little fairy homes out of natural items and toys. The bees went to the sugarbush to play and build a tent for lunch! After taking time to eat, the bees made their way to the mud kitchen to be great chefs! The owls went back to the log cabin via a trail that contained animal burrows from a groundhog! At the log cabin they worked more on the fairy homes, and played on the swing. Then it was time to say goodbye to the friends that will not be with us next week.
